Welcome to some frequently asked questions

It's completely natural to have questions when considering counselling, especially for the first time. At KJ Williams Counselling, I believe in creating a calm, trusting, and professional space where you can explore your feelings without judgment. This section aims to answer some of the most common queries, helping you feel more comfortable and informed about beginning your journey with me.

Your questions, answered

Taking the first step towards seeking support can bring up many uncertainties. I've compiled a list of questions commonly asked by clients, both before and during their counselling journey. If you don't find what you're looking for here, please don't hesitate to reach out directly.

Will you judge me?

At KJ Williams Counselling, our space is entirely non-judgmental. My role is to offer compassionate support and understanding, no matter what you choose to share.

What if I cry during a session?

Crying is a natural and healthy emotional release. Our sessions are a safe and confidential space for all your feelings, including tears. There's no need to hold back.

I'm not sure if I need counselling or what I'm feeling.

Many people start counselling feeling uncertain. It's a great opportunity to explore your thoughts and emotions in a supportive environment, helping you gain clarity and understanding.

Are my problems significant enough for counselling? Others have it worse.

Your feelings and experiences are valid, regardless of what others might be going through. If something is impacting your peace of mind or daily life, it's significant enough to address.

What situations or feelings often lead people to seek help?

People often seek help when experiencing overwhelm, anxiety, a loss of hope, difficulty connecting with their feelings, or feeling too much. A lack of support and understanding elsewhere, or general poor mental wellbeing, are also common reasons.

When will I feel the benefit, and how many sessions will I need?

The journey is unique for everyone. Some may feel a shift after a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll discuss your progress and needs together.

How long will it take to see a difference or feel better?

Progress in counselling is very personal. It's not always linear, but many clients report feeling a difference in their coping abilities and overall perspective over time. We'll work at your pace.

How do I book an appointment with KJ Williams Counselling?

Booking an appointment is easy. You can reach out via email (kjwilliamscounselling@outlook.com) to arrange an initial chat or your first session.

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

A free initial consultation can be a great way to explore this. It allows us to discuss your needs and for you to ask any questions, helping you decide if our approach feels right for you.

Do I need to prepare anything for my first session?

There's no need to prepare anything specific or be any particular version of yourself. Just come as you are, ready to share what's on your mind. I'll meet you exactly where you're at in life on that day and help guide you through the process.

What can I hope to gain from counselling at KJ Williams?

Through counselling, you can gain clarity, develop effective coping strategies, reconnect with your emotions, and find a pathway to improved mental wellbeing within a supportive, confidential, and professional space.

I understand that reaching out can be a big decision, and am here to support you. If you're ready to explore how counselling can benefit you, or if you have any further questions, please get in touch. I look forward to connecting with you at KJ Williams Counselling.
